The system of Reiki is a Japanese spiritual practice made up of 5 elements.

-Symbols and mantras

-Reiju (spiritual blessing) commonly known in the west as an attunement.

Who is the founder of the system?

Mikao Usui (1865-1926)

What Japanese elements may have influenced Mikao Usui?

What is a Reiju/Attunement?

Reiju is a spiritual blessing. It helps the student reconnect to their true nature, strengthens their connection to spiritual energy. It also helps clear the meridians or energy channels in the body so students are able to conduct more energy. The main difference between a Reiju and a western attunement is that there are no symbols used within the Reiju and the Reiju is the same for each level.

Must I receive a Reiju/Attunement to become a healer?

No, healing is natural and innate in all beings and things. The system of Reiki can help facilitate healing.

What are the levels in the system of Reiki under the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage?

There are 3 levels to the system of Reiki:

Shoden (level 1) - Beginning teachings
Okuden (level 2) - Hidden teachings
Shinpiden (teacher level- commonly called master level in the west) - Mystery Teachings

Colorado Reiki, LLC FAQ

How long have you been practicing the system of Reiki?

What is a treatment/session like?

The client lies on a table fully clothed with the intent to receive whatever it is they need. The practitioner either lays the hands on or slightly off the body in various positions as he/she creates a space for the energy to flow. Treatments can be very relaxing often allowing the client to fall asleep or feel deeply relaxed. There may or may not be sensations of heat, cold, tingling, giggles or other sensations. Each client and each treatment is unique. It is recommended that if a client wishes to work on a certain issue at least 3 closely spaced treatments are scheduled.
